Poster--Final

"Hope" is the thing with feathers
That perches in the soul
And sings the tune without the words
And never stops — at all

- Emily Dickinson

This poster ended up having so many complex components that it took a while to load the document and edit...
The Background: Starts with a radial gradient placed in the upper right-hand corner. This is overlapped by a grain texture which gives the gradient a metallic shine. Over this is the word "Hope" repeated on a diagonal, faded so as to avoid distracting from the more significant components of the poster while consuming some negative space.
The "Things": The flare tool is applied to the white on the gradient to really give the piece a glow. Just below that is the breast cancer ribbon, filled with the word "Hope" in shades of pink. To the left is an organic floral stem which is placed behind the outline of a bird...after all, "Hope" is the thing with feathers...this piece would be incomplete without a little bird :)
The Words: Placed carefully on the poster, using size and color to draw attention to key words in the quote. "Hope" is largest (it is the theme), and "Stops" is second largest. The word "Stops" was actually pulled from a photo of a stop sign; the grainy texture came with it and ended up being a happy accident! Finally, the words floating away from the bird increase in size as the distance increases and gives the illusion that the bird himself is singing a tune.
